26 Aug , 2026

Vol. 5 of the Browne Brief takes us beyond borders and into the world of international sales, where understanding customers, markets, and relationships is at the heart of every successful partnership.

In this edition, we meet Estefanía Calvopina, Browne Foodservice’s Sales Manager for Latin America and the Caribbean. Based in Quito, Ecuador, Estefanía shares her journey from foodservice operator to sales professional, how her Customer Service experience shaped her approach to sales, and what it takes to build meaningful relationships across diverse international markets.

Meet Estefanía Calvopina, Sales Manager, Latin America & the Caribbean

Based in Quito, Ecuador, Estefanía is a wife, a mom, and a business-minded professional with a genuine passion for what she does. Her family is her biggest motivation, and she brings that same dedication, energy, and commitment to her work every day.

One of the qualities that defines Estefanía is her honesty and resourcefulness. She believes in being transparent when she doesn't have an answer, but she also believes in finding a way forward. For her, being a strong partner means listening, finding solutions, and following through.

Fun Fact:
Estefanía's connection to Browne started years before she ever imagined becoming part of the team.

In 2017, while setting up a quick-service Mexican restaurant in Ecuador, she discovered Browne products through Termalimex, one of Browne's customers in the country. As a restaurant owner, she chose Browne for her own kitchen because of it's quality and construction. At the time, she had no idea that this experience would eventually lead her to Browne Foodservice, where she would go on to represent the brand across Latin America and the Caribbean.
Sometimes, the most unexpected experiences have a way of connecting the dots.

Q.  Before Browne, what was your career path, and how did you get into foodservice?

A. I'm a Business Engineer, and throughout my career I've had the opportunity to work across several industries, including security, banking, retail, and foodservice. My journey into foodservice really started after living in the UK. When I returned to Ecuador, I came back with an idea for a Mexican quick-service restaurant and decided to build the business from the ground up.

That experience gave me a completely different perspective on the industry because I experienced foodservice first as a business owner and a customer. I was choosing equipment, working with suppliers, managing costs, and dealing with the everyday challenges that come with running a food business.
That experience has stayed with me and continues to shape the way I understand and support my customers today.

Q. You started at Browne in Customer Service before moving into sales. How has that experience shaped the way you work with customers today?

A. When I joined Browne, I started in Customer Service supporting Foodservice International. Over time, I also had the opportunity to support International and U.S. Customer Service and later worked closely with the U.S. Sales team supporting the Manager, Sales Support. That journey gave me a much better understanding of everything that happens behind the scenes from receiving an order to getting the product into the customer's hands.

Today, as a Sales Manager, that experience helps me understand my customers beyond just the sale. I can better anticipate challenges, ask the right questions, and work with our internal teams to find solutions. For me, sales is not just about what a customer wants to buy. It's about understanding their business, supporting them when challenges come up, and being a reliable partner throughout the process.

Q. You work across several different markets. What do you find most exciting or challenging about understanding the needs of each one?

A. That's actually one of the things I enjoy most about my role. Every market teaches me something new. Latin America and the Caribbean are incredibly diverse, and you can't approach customers in Mexico the same way you would in Puerto Rico, Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, or Ecuador.

One thing I've learned from Chris (VP of Foodservice Canada & International), especially while traveling together and meeting customers, is something very simple: “People sell to people.” That idea has really stayed with me because, at the end of the day, business is about relationships. You need to listen, understand the person in front of you, and build trust.

Every market and every customer has its own challenges, so what works in one country may require a completely different approach in another. For me, sales isn't just about understanding what a customer wants to purchase. It's about understanding their business, their market, and what they're trying to achieve.
I want to be there to support my customers along the way so we can grow together. I truly believe that when I help my customers grow, Browne grows with them too. And that's probably the most exciting part of my job, there's always something new to learn.
